August 2008:
Greetings,
Although GreenRight is still in the early stages of development, I've made significant headway and am very close to achieving state incorporation, after which I will begin the arduous process of applying for 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Looking into the future, I will submit an in-depth business proposal to Echoing Green, a social venture organization that offers a comprehensive two-year fellowship award every spring (including a substantial amount of seed money) and from there move on to larger fundraising initiatives toward the establishment of the organization.
In the meantime, while continuing to work on the various aspects of building a foundation, I'm volunteering and interning with synergistic organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Valley Conservation Council, in order to gain exposure and professional experience within the nonprofit business world. I'm also attending various workshops, training programs, and conferences that are helping me to strengthen sector-specific skills as well as leadership capacity.
Best Regards,
Andrea Gram, Founder & Executive Director

September 2008:
The Politics of Food Conference a huge success! Thanks so much to our donors who made this conference happen for GreenRight.
Please enjoy our Politics of Food Summary, in which you may learn more about the delightful experiences and opportunities seized at the conference. This report was recommended by Shorlette Stephens and Tess Thraves of the Wayne Food Initiative while Equal Exchange and the Environmental Leadership Program, both requested permission to distribute excerpts of the report via their independent publications.

October 2008:
I was not able to raise the funds necessary to attend SOCAP in San Francisco - mostly due to the unusually high cost of the conference itself. However I did successfully raise the funds for The Feast, an alternative conference in NY that same week.
Tragically, an old and dear friend of mine was killed in an auto accident the week before the Feast was scheduled. Consequently, I wasn't able to attend this conference either, as services were held on the same day of the conference.
Furthermore, there have been some unexpected delays in various projects due to the emotionally devastating nature of this tragedy.

December 2008:
I have recently composed and submitted the Essay Questions required for the first phase of Echoing Green's coveted 2009 Fellowship Award. On January 9th, I will find out if I'm invited to continue with the second phase of application, which will require a more extensive business proposal along with some additional materials.
